Optical properties of Nd3+-doped fluorophosphate glasses

Abstract: 31Optical absorption spectra of Nd -doped fluorophosphate glasses of the type 75NaPO -24AF-1NdF (A5Li, Na, K) and of the type phenomenological Judd-Ofelt intensity parameters V (l52, 4 and 6). With the knowledge of these intensity parameters, the probability l for spontaneous emission, the branching ratios and the radiative lifetime are calculated. The relation between the spectral intensities and the glass composition is discussed. The optical properties of the fluorophosphate glasses are compared with those … Show more

“…The absorption spectrum 4 was not used in the ®tting procedure (see explanation in the text). of Nd 3 in 75NaPO 3 ±24CaF 2 ±1NdF 3 glass is similar to those in comparable¯uorophosphate glasses [30]. No transitions could be observed in the visible part of luminescence spectrum of this matrix (the near infrared region is not accessible with our equipment).…”

“…1 shows the optical absorption spectra of the 1.0 mol% Nd 3+ -doped PKSAN10, PKSAFN10 and PKSABFN10 glasses recorded in the 350-950 nm spectral region at room temperature along with the band assignments. The location and assignments of the absorption bands have been made as carried out in the earlier studies of Nd 3+ -doped glasses [10,[18][19][20][21]. Fifteen absorption bands have been observed and are assigned to the transitions from the 4 I 9/2 ground state to various excited states.…”

“…What is important, is the nature of the coordinating anions around the lanthanide ion. The spectroscopic behaviour of lanthanide ions in a fluorophosphate glass is intermediate between the behaviour in fluoride and phosphate glasses [19]. the condition that the environment of the lanthanide ion is 5.…”
