Optical Properties of Hybrid Organic‐Inorganic Materials and their Applications

Abstract: Research on hybrid inorganic‐organic materials has experienced an explosive growth since the 1980s, with the expansion of soft inorganic chemistry based processes. Indeed, mild synthetic conditions, low processing temperatures provided by “chimie douce” and the versatility of the colloidal state allow for the mixing of the organic and inorganic components at the nanometer scale in virtually any ratio to produce the so called hybrid materials. Today a high degree of control over both composition and nanostructu… Show more

“…Horiek oso interesgarriak dira gaur egun, aplikazio teknologiko ugaritan izan diren aurrerapenak direla eta, propietate bereziak azaltzen dituzten materialak behar direlako eta askotan ohiko materialek ez dutelako horrelako ezaugarri apartekorik [1,2]. Testuinguru horretan, material hibridoek konposatu organiko eta ez-organikoen propietateak sistema bakarrean eta modu eraginkorrean batera biltzeko aukera ematen dute, non azken ezaugarriak ez diren bakarrik bakarkako unitateen propietateen batura: propietate berriak edo hobetuak ere ager daitezke sinergia-efektua dela eta [1,3].…”

“…This obstacle can be circumvented by grafting optically active organic ligands onto the surfaces of Ln‐doped inorganic nanoparticles (NPs), where Ln ions are dispersed in a rigid matrix with relatively higher luminous efficiency. In recent years, this strategy has been extensively explored by making use of the efficient energy transfer from organic ligands to inorganic NPs . For instance, inorganic fluoride NPs capped with organic dye molecules have demonstrated large enhancement in upconversion emission intensity and such systems enables the broadband excitation of the UC emission with excitation bandwidth over 100 nm .…”
