Optical Potential for High-Energy Physics: Theory and Applications

Abstract: A field-theoretic exact two-body optical potential V° is defined, corresponding to the exact pseudopotential in nuclear physics. A small-angle, high-energy approximation for scattering amplitudes in the absence of resonances or bound states is suggested, based largely on investigations of Torgerson in a fairly realistic model field theory. This approximation, which corresponds to the eikonal or linearized WKB approximation in a nonrelativistic limit, involves only mass-shell values of V° and can be discussed i… Show more

“…In particular, are there any pieces of the model which could reasonably be used instead of or in addition to the already available multiperipheral model (Chew ,Goldberger" and LOW, 1968), the strip model (Collins and Johnson, 1969), or the absorptive Regge model (Arnold, 1968)? See \ Jackson* (1969) for a review of all these models and their applications.…”

“…The aim of this paper is to demonstrate that reactions of exclusive vector meson photo-and electroproduction can be described in the framework of a Regge-eikonal scheme (the general Regge-eikonal approach was developed in [1]) similar to that as for high-energy nucleon-nucleon scattering. One of the distinctive features of the proposed model is the use of nonlinear parametrizations for Regge trajectories in the diffraction region in which their QCD asymptotic behavior is taken into account explicitly.…”
