Optical emission study of plasma vortex rings at atmospheric pressure air

Abstract: The article presents the results of high-speed spectral measurements of the emission spectrum of plasma-vortex formations formed by an atmospheric pulsed plasma torch based on an electrical explosion of a conductor. Spectrum registration is carried out in the stage of autonomous existence of vortex formations. It is shown that the emission spectrum contains the Planck continuum, due to the presence of condensed oxides, and the molecular bands of AlO. Based on the obtained data, the dependence of the temperatur… Show more

“…Recent high-speed optical emission study of plasma vortex rings has shown that the emission spectrum of the vortex ring is maintained in time, and condensed Al2O3 particles are a gray body emitter [7]. Figure 3 shows the characteristic emission spectrum of a vortex ring and the channels spectral sensitivities of Canon 550D digital camera.…”

“…Under these conditions, the plasma flow contains a condensed phase, that affects the main characteristics of vortices, in particular, their stability, afterglow time, optical characteristics etc. [8,9]. In the research [1] the plasma vortices were produced in less than half of the cases of discharge pulses.…”
