“…For that reason, OCT has become a widespread measurement method in ophthalmology, 46 and it has previously been applied for screening corneal grafts aside from imaging the cornea in vivo. 22,24,26,28,40,47 Considering the necessity of a sterile environment for the graft, the use of a contact-free measurement technique is obligatory. Because of the reflective behavior of the flask walls, other noncontact, high-resolution measurement methods, such as slit-projection or Placido topography would require the exposure of the tissue to air.…”

“…23 Other investigations employed OCT-based methods because they enable the measurement of corneoscleral buttons under sterile conditions. [24][25][26][27] LASIK interfaces could be detected within the reflection pattern of the stromal tissue. Beyond that, Lin et al estimated anterior and posterior curvatures by means of a parabolic fit.…”

“…The availability of the OP-OCT for intraoperative pachymetry might also be useful for visualizing limbal-relaxing incisions and laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis flaps. 18 Other uses for intraoperative OCT technology, such as vitreoretinal and macular surgery, might evolve if the emitting laser fiber could be coupled with microsurgical instruments. In addition, the development of lighttransmissible instruments could further simplify corneal lamellar surgery.…”

“…Outra técnica sugerida consiste no emprego da tomografia de coerência óptica (OCT). Utilizando este equipamento, Priglinger et al, detectaram a interface entre o flap corneano e o estroma residual em todas as córneas examinadas, em diferentes profundidades de ablação (5) . Ulteriormente, o mesmo grupo confirmou a capacidade da OCT em detectar alterações induzidas pelo LASIK na avaliação postmortem imediata e durante o período de preservação (6) .…”
