“…However, a further topographical sub-analysis revealed that the peripapillary zone was actually characterized by an increase of the signal voids, as compared with the CC distinct zones in myopic group (Table 3). In agreement with previous studies 25,26 , we hypothesized that this finding could be secondary to the expansion of the globe leading to a localized deformation of the peripapillary region with CC stretch. Thus, it is possible that the reduction of the choriocapillaris network as visualized by SS-OCTA could be a direct consequence of this mechanical deformation.…”

“…Mazzaferro et al using OCTA imaging demonstrated that PICC was characterized by the absence of choroidal and choriocapillary network. 11 In this study we analyzed the VD of RPC (whole papillary region and the four peripapillary sectors) in myopic eyes with PICC complicated by CNV, with PICC without CNV and in myopic eyes without PICC and CNV. We found that myopic eyes with PICC presented a statistically significant reduction in VD of whole papillary and peripapillary areas compared to myopic eyes without PICC.…”

“…Indocyanine green angiography (ICGA) shows the area of peripapillary cavitation is hypofluorescent throughout the entire sequence. 12 , 21 Literature on OCT-angiography (OCT-A) use in pICC is limited. A case report by Mazzaferro et al on a 67-year-old female with pathologic myopia and pICC demonstrated a hyporeflective area corresponding to the cavitation on OCTA which may indicate a sluggish choriocapillaris vasculature or a complete absence of choroid.…”
