Optical Bistability of Terthiophene/Poly(methyl methacrylate) Composite Film Prepared Using Spin-Coating

Abstract: This paper presents an unsteady flow modeling of an electrorheological (ER) valve system and verifies its effectiveness through experimental investigation. After designing a cylindrical ER valve, a dynamic model for unsteady flow of ER fluid is derived by considering the fluid inertia. The field-dependent pressure drop of the unsteady flow is then calculated and validated with the experimental result. In order to clearly observe the difference between the unsteady flow model and the steady model, the flow rate… Show more

“…Our aim to obtain optical bistability with less on-oŠ position shift and stable bistable characteristics. Already we have systematically investigated and reported the optical bistability of Terthiophene/Polymethylmethacrylate and P3HT/PMMA composite waveguides [7][8][9] . In the present paper, the optical bistability of P3OT/PMMA composite thinˆlm for diŠerent input power intensities and the eŠect of organic gas treatment for 25 hrs on the optical bistability of composite waveguide have been reported.…”

“…The optical bistabilities of the optical devices (quasi-waveguide) composed of a prism and a dye/PMMA composite thin film were investigated. The optical bistable behavior in a quasi-waveguide interferometer with third-order optical nonlinearity in the guiding film composed of soluble poly(diacetylene) (poly-4BCMU) was demonstrated 19,20) . This device shows input-output behavior analogous to that of a nonlinear Fabry-Perot resonator.…”

“…However, in the input laser power dependence of optical bistability, the switching on-off position shifted according to input laser power intensity. This indicates that by changing the input laser power intensity, the composite thin film can be heated, leading to the phase transition of the composite film causing the optical refractive index of the composite film is subsequently increases 12) . In the present paper, the optical bistability of P3HT/PMMA composite thin film for different input laser power intensity and the effect of organic gas treatment for 25 hrs on the optical bistability of composite thin film have been reported.…”
