Optical and Photocatalytic Properties of Solar Light Active Nd-Substituted Ni Ferrite Catalysts: For Environmental Protection

Abstract: In the present investigation, we have reported the fabrication of a low-cost, magnetically separable, solar light active NiFe 2−x Nd x O 4 photocatalyst with different neodymium contents. The synthesized photocatalyst samples were characterized by a combination of various physicochemical techniques such as PXRD, SEM, EDS, FTIR, and UV−vis spectroscopy. It was observed that Nd substitution can greatly enhance absorption in the whole visible region. With an increase in Nd concentration, NiFe 2−x Nd x O 4 samples… Show more

“…These systems become radioactive and exhibit potentential for biomedical applications [19] along-with efficient tumor passive targeting [23]. Improved capability of dye removal [24], waste water treatment [25], degradation of organic pollutants through photocatalytic activity [26] are other important fields of utilization of these ferrites. These ferrites exhibit enhanced magneto optical kerr (MOKE) effect [20] and excellent microwave absorption properties [21,22].…”

“…Nanomaterials are increasingly gaining the attention of not only the scientific community but also the public due to their unique properties, which lead to new and exciting applications [1,2]. For the last few years the investigation has been focused on the preparation and characterization of II-VI semiconductor nanoparticles for applications in biological field as molecular probes or biolabels [3] and also have attracted much attention in photo-and electroluminescence properties because of their size-dependent (which is tunable) and have promising optoelectronic applications [4].…”

“…Moreover, photovoltaic and photoelectrochemical processes have been studied with CdFe 2 O 4 . However, few reports have shown the use of heavy metal doped ferrite particles as semiconductors in photovoltaic and photoelectrochemical devices [30,[50][51][52]. Recently, the use of Cd 2+ ions exposed nZVI as semiconductors in PSCs has been reported.…”
