Optical and Magnetic Properties of some REZnPnO (Pn = P, As, Sb) Phases

Abstract: Optofluidics is increasingly gaining impact in a number of different fields of research, namely biology and medicine, environmental monitoring and green energy. However, the market for optofluidic products is still in the early development phase. In this manuscript, we discuss modular platforms as a potential concept to facilitate the transfer of optofluidic sensing systems to an industrial implementation. We present microfluidic and optical networks as a basis for the interconnection of optofluidic sensor mod… Show more

“…The isomer shifts show a correlation with the calculated (tight binding technique) electron density at the antimony nuclei, shifting to lower values with increasing electron density. The range of isomer shifts in antimonides roughly extends from –6.8 to –8.2 mm · s –1 vs. Ba 121m SnO 3 , , , . From this comparison we can conclude a comparatively low density at the antimony nuclei in YIrSb.…”

“…Although the structure refinement also showed two Wyckoff sites with Rh/Sb mixing, only the superimposed signal of both spectral contributions could be observed. The isomer shift of − 8.22 mm s −1 points to an antimonide character [38], similar to the series YbT Sb [39] and REZnSbO [40].…”

“…Up to date, five ZnSbbased quaternary compound, namely REZnOSb (RE = La, Ce, Pr, Nd and Sm) have been synthesized as single crystals by the NaCl/KCl flux method and the structures were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction [13][14][15][16]. Four polycrystalline REZnOSb (RE = La, Ce, Pr, Nd) have been prepared by the solid-state reaction method [12].…”

“…The [ZnSb] layers can be thought of as layers of edge-sharing tetrahedral ZnSb 4 . In addition, the lowtemperature electrical conductivity, 121 Sb Mössbauer effect, optical properties and magnetic susceptibility for some REZnOSb were reported [15][16][17]. It is worth noting that effects of rare-earth substitution on the structures and properties of REZnOSb (RE = La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm) have not been studied systematically by experiment and theory yet.…”
