“…The absorption bands at ~1360 cm -1 and ~1441 cm -1 are due to the symmetric stretching vibrations of P=O bonds [30,39] and vibration modes of [BO 3 ] and BO 2 O - [31], respectively. The other bands observed at the wavenumbers higher than 1500 cm -1 are related to the vibrations of H-O-H, POH, and BOH [31,33,34].…”

“…These transitions were assigned by comparing the band positions in the transmission spectra with a standard wavelength chart for Nd 3+ ion. The various spectroscopic transitions observed for Nd 2 O 3 containing glasses are as follows: 2 P 1/2 (429 nm), 4 G 11/2 + 2 K 15/2 (460 nm), 2 G 9/2 (473nm), 4 G 9/2 (512nm), 4 G 7/2 (525 nm), 4 G 5/2 + 2 G 7/2 (582 nm), 4 S 3/2 + 4 F 7/2 (747 nm), 4 F 5/2 + 2 H 9/2 (799 nm), 4 F 3/2 (863 nm) [46]. These transitions correspond to transitions from the ground state to various excited states of 4f N configuration.…”

“…2 presents the absorption spectra in the range of 400e1000 nm in Nd 3þ doped bismuth silicate glasses. Eight absorption bands are observed, which are assigned to the transitions of 4 I 9/2 / 4 G 9/2 , 4 G 7/2 , ( 4 G 5/2 , 2 G 7/2 ), 2 H 11/2 , 4 F 9/2 , ( 4 F 7/2 , 4 S 3/2 ), ( 4 F 5/2 , 2 H 9/2 ) and 4 F 3/2 at 514, 527, 585, 624, 684, 749, 806, 879 nm, respectively [17]. It can be seen that each absorption band becomes stronger with the increment of Nd 2 O 3 concentration.…”
