Optical absorption spectra inSrCu2O3two-leg spin ladder

Abstract: We calculate the phonon-assisted optical-absorption spectra in SrCu 2 O 3 two-leg spin-ladder systems. The results for two models proposed for SrCu 2 O 3 are compared. In the model including the effects of a cyclic four-spin interaction, the shoulder structure appears at ϳ978 cm Ϫ1 and the peak appears at ϳ1975 cm Ϫ1 in the spectrum for polarization of the electric field parallel to the legs. In the other model which describes a pure two-leg ladder, the peak appears around the lower edge of the spectrum at ϳ13… Show more

“…Highly localized excitations in fully exchange-coupled bulk magnets may either arise from an accidental arrangement of exchange couplings or come out of a particular lattice structure of geometric aspect. While some examples of the former case can be found in spin-1 2 bond-polymerized chains in principle, 37,61 it must be hard to observe them in real materials. On the other hand, the present findings are of the latter origin and may be more accessible experimentally.…”

“…The one model describes the pure two-leg ladder [53] and the other model includes the effects of a cyclic four-spin interaction [54]. To distinguish characteristics between the two models, some experimental methods for the observation of dynamical properties were proposed [55,56,57]. If the temperature-independent 1/T 1 at certain two fields in H c1 < H < H c2 will be observed, such findings are also an evidence for the effects of a cyclic four-spin interaction in SrCu 2 O 3 .…”
