Optic nerve melanocytoma: pathophysiology, clinical considerations, and diagnostic novelties

Abstract: Optic nerve melanocytoma is a rare, benign, pigmented tumor of the optic disc that may cause visual complications in few cases and can be easily confused with malignant melanoma. This review aims to highlight its clinical characteristics and pathophysiology, as well as to update the diagnostic methods available, like optical coherence tomography angiography.
