Opportunistic Multipath Routing in Long-Hop Wireless Sensor Networks

Abstract: To improve the packet delivery ratio in wireless sensor networks, many approaches such as multipath, opportunistic, and learning-based routing protocols have been proposed. However, the performance of the existing protocols are degraded under long-hop wireless sensor networks because the additional overhead is proportional to the number of hops. To deal with the overhead, we propose an opportunistic multipath routing that forecasts the required number of paths, as well as bifurcation based on opportunistic rou… Show more

“…The load balancing algorithm seeks to distribute the flow of traffic to each path as efficiently as possible. When building pathways, the REER algorithm proposed in [22] predicts the optimum next hop using the remainder of energy, the size of the usable buffer and the signal-tonoise ratio. Two traffic allocation strategies are examined.…”

“…The ant colony algorithm uses the fitness function optimized based on communication distance, transmission direction and current residual energy. Packet delivery ratio is increased using opportunistic multipath routing in [13]. Similar to it, in [14] A multi path routing algorithm is formulated to increase packet reliability by forwarding on multiple paths.…”

“…Moreover, Deepaa and Sugunab [25] proposed Optimized QoS-based Clustering with Multipath Routing Protocol (OQoS-CMRP) to determine cluster heads while considering sink coverage area and energy. In addition, Kim et al [26] presented the opportunistic multipath routing to improve the performance in WSN which can be applied to multimedia data delivery.…”
