Abstract:We have used single-channel patch-clamp recordings to study opiate receptor effects on freshly dissociated neurons from the rat amygdalohippocampal area (also called the posterior nucleus of the amygdala), an output nucleus of the amygdala implicated in appetitive behaviors. Dissociated cells included a distinct subpopulation that was 30-40 m in diameter, multipolar or pyramidal in shape, and immunoreactive for neuronspecific enolase, opioid receptors, and galanin. In whole-cell perforated-patch recordings, th… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
