of 77However, the background of the question also raised the issue of which assessment factor should be applied to the mesocosm result. The PPR Panel suggests that the data available in this case have reduced the uncertainty to a considerable extent and thus allow the reduction of such an assessment factor. However, some uncertainties remain. It also notes that the Annex VI assessment factors are meant to cover the uncertainties of biological origin while uncertainties on exposure (see Background, uncertainties regarding influence of environmental conditions on exposure) should be dealt with by other means, e.g. sensitivity analyses of exposure estimates or probabilistic exposure assessments.
