Increase in motorization and densification of populations in cities have led to the use of more resources both for the construction of different objects and for the service and operation of automotive vehicles. As a result, volumes of freight transportation, which are related to the construction and servicing of these objects, increase. New scientifically applied tasks that are related to the safety of freight transportation have emerged. Special attention is being paid to those that are related to dangerous tasks. It is obvious that traffic safety and the quality of the transportation process significantly depend on the behaviors and actions of the driver. The driver, as it is known, is the main chain of the "driver-automobile-road-environment" (DARE) system. With improvements in the technical and operational parameters of vehicles and road characteristics, the study of the functional state (FS) of the driver and the reliability of his skills become more important every time. The specific importance of this becomes clear when drivers operate vehicles that transport dangerous goods. Therefore, research on the interaction of chains of the DARE system (using improved existing and developed methods by the authors) is carried out in this paper, taking into account the indicators of drivers' FS in different situations (stress index, which consists in evaluation of the heart and brain operations). The results obtained provide an opportunity to predict their behavior in different road situations and, as a consequence, to determine possible risks during the transportation of dangerous goods. The authors improved the methodology of determining the levels of possible risks of accidents and assessment of their consequences, taking into account the peculiarities of transportation routes, traffic conditions, and psychophysiological indicators of the driver`s body during the transportation of dangerous goods within settlements and on the roads between them.

a b s t r a c tThis paper proposes a variant of the well-known capacitated vehicle routing problem that models the routing of vehicles in the cash-in-transit industry by introducing a risk constraint. In the Risk-constrained Cash-inTransit Vehicle Routing Problem (RCTVRP), the risk of being robbed, which is assumed to be proportional both to the amount of cash being carried and the time or the distance covered by the vehicle carrying the cash, is limited by a risk threshold.A library containing two sets of instances for the RCTVRP, some with known optimal solution, is generated. A mathematical formulation is developed and small instances of the problem are solved by using IBM CPLEX.Four constructive heuristics as well as a local search block composed of six local search operators are developed and combined using two different metaheuristic structures: a multistart heuristic and a perturband-improve structure. In a statistical experiment, the best parameter settings for each component are determined, and the resulting heuristic configurations are compared in their best possible setting. The resulting metaheuristics are able to obtain solutions of excellent quality in very limited computing times.

The transportation of dangerous goods/hazardous chemicals is a hot issue in the area of industrial safety. This paper investigates route optimization for the transportation of Adipic acid based on the fuzzy compromise approach and the iterative algorithm, proposing a multi-point multi-objective decisionmaking model of road transportation routing with minimum transportation risk, minimum transportation cost and minimum sensitive population. The three objective functions are integrated with weights by path optimization and risk decision model. The optimal compromised solution is obtained using the extended label correcting method. The iterative algorithm is used to remove the road section with maximum risk and get the final optimized route. The final optimized route is obtained by multiple optimizations, which combines the dual advantages of extended label correcting method and the iterative algorithm. Compared with the optimized route obtained by only using one-off optimization, the proposed method can consider the weight of the multi-objective functions to better balance the relationship among different objectives and is better to meet the requirement of the government, the transporters and the general public. An example is used to demonstrate the model. Using the route optimization model proposed in this paper, it is feasible to acquire a good balance between the risks and benefits associated with hazardous chemical transportation.
