Operational tests of a dual-rotor mini wind turbine

Abstract: The article presents the results of wind-tunnel tests and field studies of a mini dual-rotor wind turbine. The first stage involved testing of an open-circuit wind tunnel built with the aim of performing laboratory tests. The coefficient of uneven air stream disRomAński L, Bieniek J, komARnicki P, DęBowski m, DeTynA J. operational tests of a dual-rotor mini wind turbine. eksploatacja i niezawodnosc -maintenance and Reliability 2016; 18 (2): 201-209, http://dx

“…Placement of the rotors, the distance between each other, as well as its diameters can vary. When both rotors are placed at the upwind side of a tower (as for example in [8]), there is commonly small axial distance between them. Otherwise, bending torque caused by unevenly distributed hub weight would significantly stress tower construction.…”

“…Study results of a 6 kW CRWT carried out over a period of 4 months have been presented in [20]. Operational field tests of a small CRWT have been described in [8]. Numerical investigations are mainly performed with use of the Computational Fluids Dynamics (CFD).…”

“…There few two CRWT configurations possible. Both rotors can be placed at upwind side, as for example in [5]. Such a configuration commonly implies small axial distance between rotors.…”
