Operation Planning of Natural Ventilation System Utilizing Network Simulation

Abstract: A method to optimize natural ventilation operation at a building design stage is proposed. The method considers an aspect that frequent open and close of natural ventilation windows may cause occupant's complaints and result in the barrier for the optimal usage to minimize building energy consumption. The operation history evaluation utilizing a network simulation at building design stage could solve the problem. This paper presents a case study to carry out the method. The optimal operation strategies based o… Show more

“…The concept of opening ratio incorporated in this study is useful because avoiding the occurrence of a low-temperature environment is difficult by simply controlling the opening of the natural ventilation openings in two steps. 81 Furthermore, Lim et al 82 proposed a louver that automatically adjusts the degree of opening of natural ventilation openings and showed its effectiveness. Such automatic adjustment technology is considered to be effective in realizing an ideal natural ventilation operation method.…”
