Oocyte activation deficiency and assisted oocyte activation: mechanisms, obstacles and prospects for clinical application

Abstract: Background Oocyte activation deficiency (OAD) is attributed to the majority of cases underlying failure of intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) cycles, the standard treatment for male factor infertility.
