OnDBTuning is a relational database (automatic) tuning ontology. Ontologies are software artifacts that represent specific domain knowledge and can infer new knowledge. However, most cases involve only a formal and static description of concepts. Moreover, as database tuning involves many rules-ofthumb and black-box algorithms, it becomes challenging to describe these inference procedures. This research work first presents the OnDBTuning ontology solution focusing on the inference of tuning actions. Next, we provide an actual implementation using SPARQL Inferencing Notation (SPIN). Finally, we discuss a practical evaluation for index recommendation.

Query reformulation is a fundamental task in information retrieval systems aimed at improving the accuracy and relevance of search results. This abstract presents a query reformulation approach that utilizes a domain-specific ontology to enhance the effectiveness of query reformulation. The use of ontology enables a more precise understanding of the domain and its associated concepts, leading to more accurate query interpretation and reformulation. The proposed approach consists of two main steps: ontology-based query interpretation and ontology-guided query expansion. The proposed approach use Power thesaurus tool that perform sentiment analysis for suggestion of the synonyms of the query words to improve the accuracy of the retrieved results. The proposed methodology gives high accuracy as compared to the previous approaches that used Wordnet for the suggestions of synonyms. The proposed approach demonstrates the potential of utilizing ontologies in query reformulation, offering a more accurate and context-aware search experience in domain-specific information retrieval systems.

The present article aims to review and evaluate the practiced and classical techniques, tools, models, and systems concerning automatic information extraction (IE) from published scientific documents like research articles, patents, theses, technical reports, and case studies etc. IE is performed for various reasons such as better indexing, archiving, searching, and retrieving. That is mainly used by the search engines and the indexing services as well the digital libraries and semantic web. In this regard, several studies have been conducted targeting various nature of documents. The study pays special consideration to the successful IE models, algorithms and approaches applied to structural IE from published documents. To grasp this, the paper is classified into several segments and each segment covers a significant aspect of IE. Furthermore, to validate their benefits and drawbacks, a comparative study of all the approaches have been conducted in terms of various performance factors like precision, accuracy, recall and F-score. Potential areas of improvement have been emphasized as research gap for the scholars in the closely related areas. Ultimately, a comprehensive summary of the evaluation is presented in tabular form and review is concluded. It was observed that the hybrid methods outperform the other methods due to their versatile nature to address various document formats.
