“…Sharing and pooling resources and services were the most common ways in which migrant groups mobilized to help fellow Filipinos. This included responding to material needs such as food packs, vitamins, winter clothes, COVID testing kits, masks and disinfectants, and offering temporary shelter or raising funds for housing for those who became homeless (Galam, 2020;Vilog and Piocos III, 2020;Pandey et al, 2021;Cheng and Vicera, 2022). Some Filipino nurses engaged in conversations with each other as a means of stress relief (Elmaco, 2022).…”

“…In Hong Kong's more liberal regime (in 2014), Facebook was the main vehicle to mobilise advocacy groups following the torture and abuse of Indonesian Erwiana Sulistyaningsih (Allmark and Wahyudi 2016). Filipinos have also turned to social media for online peer support -both emotional and practical (Cheng and Vicera 2022). Fellow migrants who pass away are mourned 'digitally' on Facebook in Israel (Babis 2021).…”

Beyond medical concerns, access to interpersonal network via technologically mediated communication, primarily media, also helps in addressing mental health issues and general well-being of many FHSWs in HK (Cheng & Vicera, 2022; Zhong et al, 2022).…”
