“…For the ethanolic extract of P. arboreum leaves, the HPLC profile demonstrated in the chromatogram at 330 nm was as follows: (i) high polarity peaks were observed at Rt from 1.83 to 2.16 min with absorptions at 276 and 290 nm, respectively, which could be attributed to the presence of amides; these results are consistent with those of Nascimento et al . (2015) and Silva Costa (2002); and (ii) medium polarity peaks at Rt of 13.1, 14.2 and 24.4 min with absorption bands at 268, 338, 269, 338 nm, suggestive of flavonoids (Tong et al ., 2018) and at 324 nm that may be characteristic of phenolic compounds (Fig. 8B) (Ferreres et al ., 2014).…”

“…In LC-Q-TOF-MS for the profiling analysis of phenolic antioxidants, hyphenation to DAD detectors has been commonly employed for further peak annotation or dereplication, providing valuable on-line structural information based on retention times, UV spectra, exact mass, and fragmentation ions from MS/MS spectra. On-line HPLC-DAD-Q-TOF-MS/MS system was applied for the rapid chemical profiling of flavonoids form Fructus aurantii immaturus [16], minor antioxidants from leaves of Malus doumeri [34] and unknown and minor isomeric chlorogenic acids in the buds of Lonicera macranthoides [35], whereas alternative off-line configurations (HPLC-UV/Q-TOF-MS) were proposed for the rapid screening of brainpenetrable antioxidants from natural products [18] and for active fragments-guided discovery of selective tropane alkaloids drugs [19]. Other screening methods for the determination of nitric oxide scavengers [36], and other active and functional compound combinations [37] evidenced the broad applicability of the hyphenated DAD-Q-TOF systems.…”

“…Thus, the selection of the most appropriate ionization method according to the polarity and molecular weight of target metabolites plays an important role on their detectability. A broad variety of secondary metabolites in plant natural products, including phenolics, flavonoids, terpenoids, alkaloids, coumarin, and saponins, among others, have been analyzed using ESI-related ambient ionization techniques coupled to different HRMS instruments such as TOF [11][12][13] , Q-TOF [14][15][16][17][18][19][20][21], IT-TOF [22][23][24], LTQ-Orbitrap [25][26][27], Q-Orbitrap or Fourier-transform ion cyclotron resonance (FT-ICR) [28].…”

“…Due to their specific therapeutic effects, four decoction pieces are employed to perform diverse usages. AFI is often used to eliminate phlegm and dissipate stagnant qi, while AF relieves gastrointestinal indigestion in a gentle yet effective manner [ 3 , 4 ]. CRPV is mostly used to promote the flow of liver qi, while CRP is commonly utilized to strengthen the spleen and dispel phlegm [ 5 , 6 ].…”
