“…The particle size and morphology may be controlled by using various methods including solvothermal/hydrothermal [10,11], vapor phase growth [12], vacuum calcining precursors [13], thermal decomposition [14], ultrasonic, gamma, and microwave irradiation [15][16][17], and chemical liquid homogeneous precipitation [18]. Therefore, Mn 3 O 4 compounds show distinct shapes including nanoparticles [19], nanorods [20], nanowires [21], and tetragonal particles [22].…”

“…In the FTIR spectrum of MnO 2 @SA/Mn beads (Figure 1(c)), the characteristic adsorption peaks of pure alginate hydrogel beads and MnO 2 were approximately maintained or even stronger. Moreover, an original peak at 1740 cm −1 probably caused by the absorption vibrations of the -COOH in alginate molecule [41,42] Figure 2, respectively. Figure 2(a) indicates that the surface of MnO 2 @SA/Mn hydrogel beads in a gel state is smooth and the bead has a black spherical shape with a diameter approximately 2.0 ± 0.2 mm; simultaneously the average diameter after freezing drying is about 1.5 ± 0.2 mm.…”

“…Several methods are reported in the literature for the synthesis of manganese oxides, among which hydrothermal synthesis [13], thermal decomposition of KMnO 4 [14], sol-gel method [5] and others [11,15]. The route investigated in this work is the comparison between two different methods: co-precipitation [16] and Solution Combustion Synthesis [17], which is an innovative and cheap alternative to consolidated methods allowing to obtain high purity single and mixed oxides characterized by high values of specific surface area and able to give a wide variety of morphologies and oxidation states by changing the operative parameters.…”
