One-Step Distortion Simulation of Pulsed Laser Welding with Multi-Physics Information

Abstract: The pulsed laser welding technique involves complex physical mechanisms, which demand a multiphysics welding simulation for reliable computational analysis. Although the multi-physics simulation provides high accuracy in detailed welding information, it is difficult to apply in practice, as it requires vast computational resources for systematic analysis. We propose a highly efficient and reliable simulation technique based on multi-physics analysis and mechanical analysis. The developed technique is used to e… Show more

“…(5); however, the liquid properties, such as viscosity or fluidity, were ignored since the liquid state appears for a very short time and does not considerably influence the progress of the simulation. Therefore, it is reasonable to ignore such properties as other studies such as [15] and [19] included similar assumptions for finite element analysis of the melting process.…”

“…Using heat to form the materials is the main basis principle, not only metallic material [7][8][9] but also non-metallic material. Through a combination of biomedical techniques and micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS), a variety of methods can be used for the formation of polymer micro-structures.…”

“…Many experimental and theoretical studies have been made to understand the laser welding phenomenon in several industries [18] to [20]. However, there is still a lack of information about the effect of fiber laser welding process parameters on the microstructural and mechanical properties of materials with large heat conductivity or with volatile chemical elements, such as the 5xxx series.…”
