“…Additionally, the Wilcoxon test enables us to determine whether there is an increase in scores from the pretest to the post-test (Saplıoğlu & Güçlü, 2022). It is worth noting that the Wilcoxon test is commonly employed for testing location parameters, making it well-suited for our evaluation (Kitani & Murakami, 2022). The results of the Wilcoxon test are presented in Table 1, providing a comprehensive overview of the statistical analysis conducted on the pretest and posttest data.…”

“…In fact, Amrhein (1995) showed that the two‐sided Wilcoxon signed‐rank test is biased by giving a counter‐example. Recently, Kitani and Murakami (2022) investigated whether the test proposed by Policello and Hettmansperger (1976), which contains both the Wilcoxon signed rank test and the sign test, is unbiased. In the literature, by choosing the appropriate tuning parameter in terms of bias correction, the test of Policello and Hettmansperger (1976) can be an unbiased test for the two‐sided alternative of the counter‐example of Amrhein (1995).…”

“…In addition, we found that the WMW test is not unbiased against the shifted location parameter given by the counter-examples. Furthermore, we reviewed the studies on the unbiasedness of tests in various other nonparametric research fields, including permutation tests (Pesarin & De Martini, 2002;Pesarin & Salmaso, 2010), counter-example studies of one-sample location test (Amrhein, 1995;Kitani & Murakami, 2022), the goodness of fit test (Frey, 2009;Hanyuda & Murakami, 2021;Massey, 1950;Thompson, 1966), scale test (Lee et al, 2005), multivariate test (Jurečkov a & Kalina, 2012). In future research, we recommend developing the bias correction methods for biased test statistics, such as the WMW location test and other nonparametric tests like the goodness of fit test, scale test, and multivariate test.…”

“…In main learning activities, colleagues who act as observers help observe students' skills using previously developed instruments. Skill data in the two cycles were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test [26], stacking analysis, and racking [27], [28]. The Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test was used to see whether there was a significant difference between students' skills in cycles one and two.…”
