One Luminescent Cadmium Iodide with Free Bifunctional Azole Sites as a Triple Sensor for Cu2+, Fe3+, and Cr2O72– Ions

Abstract: The exploration of an excellent triple sensor for monitoring Cu2+, Fe3+, and Cr2O7 2– ions is of exceeding significance because of their serious effects on the human body. Herein, optically active 1H-3,5-bis(pyrazinyl)-1,2,4-triazole (Hbpt) with triazolyl and pyrazinyl groups was applied for the construction of a new type of organic hybrid cadmium iodide [Cd6I8(bpt)4(H2O)4]·2H2O (1) incorporating a hitherto-unknown [Cd3I4(H2O)2]2+ trimeric-cationic unit, which shows an orange light emission at 589 nm with a l… Show more

“…4c, S8c and S9c†). 72–74 The correlation between the relative emission intensity and Fe 3+ ion concentration can be very close to the Stern–Volmer equation at low concentration, but gradually deviated from linearity with the increase of the concentration. In the low concentration range of 0.02–0.10 mM, the R 2 values were 0.99729 for 1 , 0.97906 for 2 , and 0.98831 for 3 , respectively, while the K sv values were 13.55634 mM −1 for 1 , 10.54261 mM −1 for 2 , and 4.97947 mM −1 for 3 , respectively.…”

“…Therefore, designing and synthesizing a method for rapid detection of antibiotics in wastewater is critical but challenging. , Similarly, the detection of inorganic ions in wastewater is of great significance for the protection of ecological balance and animal and plant health. CrO 4 2– /Cr 2 O 7 2– ion, as a highly water-soluble oxyanion, has terrible toxicity and carcinogenicity after being discharged into the environment, leading a potential threat to humans and aquatic life in trace levels in water. Therefore, the detection of Cr(VI) ions is highly imperative for the protection of the human health and environment. …”

“…Among these methods, fluorescent detection offers a simplistic approach with high sensitivity, accuracy, and economy for online monitoring and detection of Fe 3+ ions, making it a favorable choice. However, the widespread use of fluorescent sensors is currently limited by their cross-sensitivity to other metal ions such as Cu 2+ , Cr 3+ , Al 3+ , and Pb 2+ [8][9][10][11][12][13][14][15].…”
