One-loop corrections to the perturbative unitarity bounds in the CP-conserving two-Higgs doublet model with a softly broken ℤ 2 $$ {\mathrm{\mathbb{Z}}}_2 $$ symmetry

Abstract: We compute all of the one-loop corrections that are enhanced, O(λ i λ j /16π 2 ), in the limit s |λ i |v 2 M 2 W , s m 2 12 to all the 2 → 2 longitudinal vector boson and Higgs boson scattering amplitudes in the CP -conserving two-Higgs doublet model with a softly broken Z 2 symmetry. In the two simplified scenarios we study, the typical bound we find is |λ i (s)| 4.

“…The unitarity of the S-matrix can be used to place constraints on the parameters of a theory [42] (see also [14,28,[43][44][45][46][47]). If a certain combination of parameters becomes too large, an amplitude will appear to be non-unitary at a given order in perturbation theory.…”

“…3 Note that those couplings deviate from the SM prediction at higher orders [24,25]. 4 Notice that if we use criteria other than the tree-level unitarity such as the unitarity bounds at one-loop level [31] or the triviality bounds [23,32,33], the parameter space can be more restricted. [36,37].…”

“…This is guaranteed at the one-loop level together with the assumption of convergence of the perturbation series, i.e. enforcing the next-to-leading order contribution to be smaller in magnitude than the tree-level expression [9,10]. I will refer to the previously mentioned constraints as theoretical constraints in the following.…”
