One-Dimensionally Polarization-Independent Retrodirective Metasurface

Abstract: A one-dimensionally polarization-independent retrodirective metasurface (PIRMS) is proposed in this letter. The retrodirective metasurface (RMS) consists of ring structures on its ground plane to achieve the polarization-independent characteristics. The reflection phases of unitcells of the metasurface can be controlled by the radius of the ring structure, and the dimension of the supercell with the 2π phase variation depends on an incident angle and operation frequency from the generalized Snell's law.
