One-dimensional CO9S8-V3S4 heterojunctions as bifunctional electrocatalysts for highly efficient overall water splitting

Abstract: responds to the enhancement of oxygen evolution reaction (OER) activity. Co 9 S 8 -V 3 S 4 /CC exhibits low overpotentials of 85 and 232 mV at 10 mA cm −2 and small Tafel slopes of 51 and 59 mV dec −1 for HER and OER, respectively. Especially, the electrolyzer with Co 9 S 8 -V 3 S 4 /CC as both the anode and cathode requires low onset voltage of 1.35 V and cell voltage of 1.53 V at 10 mA cm −2 and exhibits high Faradaic efficiencies and robust stability. It can be driven by a solar cell (1.53 V) for continuous… Show more

“…8) show the presence of Co, P and O elements both in CoP2/CC and V-CoP2/CC, apart from the emergence of V element in V-CoP2/CC. The O comes from the superficial oxidation of phosphides exposed in air 38 . As shown in Fig.…”

“…It has been established that TMICs have superior electrocatalytic activities toward HER, OER, CO 2 RR, and small-molecule oxidation. [95][96][97] Due to their intrinsic defects, TMICs exhibit superior electrocatalytic activity. In case of transition metal nitrides (TMNs), the d-band centers and densities of states (DOS) of the d orbitals enable noble-metallike behavior [98][99][100] in electrocatalysis and ensure good adsorption of reactants at the surfaces of TMNs.…”

“…To optimize the catalytic activity, two focus points are increasing the number of active sites and improving the intrinsic catalytic activity [7,8]. In this regard, constructing heterostructure interfaces is an effective strategy for realizing the simultaneous modulations of the aforementioned aspects [9][10][11]. Heterojunctions constructed by early (W, Mo, V, etc.)…”
