On the vibron-polaron damping in quasi 1D macromolecular chains

Abstract: The properties of the intramolecular vibrational excitation (vibron) in a quasi 1D macromolecular structure are studied. It is supposed that due to the vibron interaction with optical phonon modes, a vibron might form partially dressed small polaron states. The properties of these states are investigated in dependence on the basic system parameters and temperature of a thermal bath. We also investigate the process of damping of the polaron amplitude as a function of temperature and vibron-phonon coupling stren… Show more

On the other hand, due to its good features in the field of miniaturization of microelectronic and optoelectronic devices, there appears a renewed interest for application of such structures in construction of nanocrystals, nanowires, and molecular circuits.…”

“…Earlier, the properties of both the intramolecular vibrational excitation (vibron) in a quasi 1D macro-molecular structure, and the case of two macromolecular chains. were studied in our papers [9][10][11], in part, within improved Holstein molecular crystal model [2,3,4]. There it was supposed that due to the vibron interaction with optical phonon modes, vibron form partially dressed small polaron states.…”

“…It has been shown that the velocity of heat propagation could be estimated from photothermal pulse response. This material property has not been estimated yet, but its understanding is very important for further fundamental investigations of heat transfer as well as for many applications of macromolecular materials [3]. We assumed that the tested sample was optically opaque, and that it is in the contact with semi-infinite layer of air.…”
