On the spin-2 Kaluza-Klein spectrum of AdS 4 × S 2 ℬ 4 $$ {\mathrm{AdS}}_4\times {S}^2\left({\mathrm{\mathcal{B}}}_4\right) $$

Abstract: We perform a numerical study of the four-dimensional spin-2 Kaluza-Klein spectrum of supersymmetric AdS 4 × S 2 (B 4 ) vacua and show that they do not exhibit scale separation. Our methods are generally applicable to similar problems where the compactification geometry is not known analytically, hence an analytic treatment of the spectrum of Kaluza-Klein masses is not available.

“…In section 4.3, we determine the first eigenvalues µ N in equation (4.18). For d = 1, we present here an alternative numerical method that goes back to the work of Hartree [52], and was used for the determination of a Kaluza-Klein spectrum for the first time in [42]. The idea goes as follows: the eigenvalue problem (4.18) only has solutions for discrete values µ N of µ.…”

“…We do so for d = 1, 2, 3 transverse dimensions, with different values of the parameters. For d = 1, this analysis is completed in appendix B by an alternative method, used already in [42]. The spectrum evaluation quantifies the deviations from the standard Kaluza-Klein spectrum.…”

“…2 Spin-2 excitations of flux compactifications with anti-de Sitter, Poincaré or de Sitter invariance obey the massless scalar wave equation in ten dimensions [13]. For other anti-de Sitter backgrounds of massive IIA supergravity, this fact has been exploited in order to study their mass spectrum without deriving the full set of linearised equations of motion [14,15,16,17]. For AdS 6 backgrounds of type IIB supergravity see [18].…”
