“…However, the frequencies not only in these groups but in the total material are considerably lower than those reported in a number of former works from Norway (Herven, E. 1935, Holst 1947, Thomassen 1949, Petersen 1958, who quote frequencies from 77 per cent to 93 per cent. The frequencies from these latter studies form the main foundations for the general view that the frequency of fibrillopathy among glaucoma patients is particularly high in Norway.…”

“…In Scandinavian ophthalmological literature problems concerning pseudoexfoliation of the lens capsule and glaucoma capsulare are the subject of frequent discussion. Early series based on open-angle glaucoma, published from the Nonvegian side showed such a frequency of occurrence of glaucoma capsulare (Hth-ven 1936;Holst 1947;Thomassen 1949;Petersen 1958) in comparison to other countries (Irvine 1940;Lemoine 1950;Leydhecker 1960) that geographical differences seemed to play an important part concerning this type of glaucoma. This led to the still open discussion of possible exogenous aetiological factors fo the capsular exfoliations.…”
