On the role of the coriolis and quasiparticle-phonon interactions in describingE1 transition probabilities in odd Eu and Tb isotopes

Abstract: It is shown within the microscopic approach combining the quasiparticle-phonon nuclear model and the nonadiabatic rotational model (QPNM + NRM) that a complicated behaviour of E 1 transitions in nuclei 153, lSSEu and lss, 157Tb can be described only if both the Coriolis and quasiparticle-phonon interactions are taken into account. In contrast with the results obtained in the NRM allowing for pairing and the Coriolis forces only, QPNM +NRM calculations provide a considerable increase in E I(AK=0) transitions wh… Show more

“…The mathematical apparatus of the QPNM constructed in this paper for deformed nuclei can serve as a basis for calculations of many characteristics of lowlying and high-lying states 9 We hope that the QPNM calculations will stimulate further experimental study of the structure of deformed nuclei at a new generation of accelerators and detectors.…”

“…Thus, the influence of hexadecapote interactions with 2/~=42 on the K ~= 2 + states is studied by a simultaneous inclusion of 2/~=22+42 interactions. In [9], interactions with 2 = 1 and 2 = 3 were taken into account in studying E 1 transitions from octupole to ground states.…”

“…2.3). They lead to decreased amplitude of the main two-quasiparticle component in [~p(K')) and, as a result, to attenuation of the Coriolis matrix elements observed experimentally [13,29,33]. So in our approach the attenuation effect is obtained in a natural way.…”

“…The approach represents the generalization and unification of the QPM [6] and the rotational degrees of freedom as well as the Coriolis mixing and effective n-p interaction are included [8,29,33]. As a result, the proposed approach takes into account the most important effects (the n-p interaction between external nucleons and the coupling with rotational and vibrational degrees of freedom of the doubly even core) which are necessary for the description of excitation energies as well as E2(M2) and beta transition probabilities in odd-odd deformed nuclei.…”
