On the reciprocal interaction between believing and feeling: an adaptive agent modelling perspective

Abstract: An agent’s beliefs usually depend on informational or cognitive factors such as observation or received communication or reasoning, but also affective factors may play a role. In this paper, by adopting neurological theories on the role of emotions and feelings, an agent model is introduced incorporating the interaction between cognitive and affective factors in believing. The model describes how the strength of a belief may not only depend on information obtained, but also on the emotional responses on the be… Show more

“…Examples of this further integration are integration of an emotion regulation cycle with a social interaction cycle as described in (Aziz et al, 2011), or the integration of cognitive-affective cycles with social interaction cycles as described in Hoogendoorn et al, 2011). Furthermore, in a number of models mechanisms for adaptivity and emotional response-feeling cycles have been integrated with other types of cycles (e.g., Memon and Treur, 2010).…”

“…All replications involving consistency models and approaches are the reason for additional network traffic and bandwidth requirement [47]. To maintain consistency, there is a need to update every single data item replicated, which in turn results in additional operation of write-update requests, including original data access or write request.…”

“…4 For the current paper, the Situational Leadership Theory 5 was adopted; see also, for example, Thompson and Vecchio, 12 Mujtaba and Sungkhawan, 13 Luna and Jolly, 14 and Memon and Treur. 16 In this theory, the group leader is responsive to the behavior of the group or group member, which the leader categorizes in one of four development levels. In this way, the group or group member’s behavior determines the group leader’s behavior.…”
