On the optimization of Maxwell's eigenvalues as functions of the electric permittivity in a cavity

Abstract: We formulate an optimization problem for the dependence of the eigenvalues of Maxwell's equations in a cavity with perfect electric conducting boundary upon variation of the electric permittivity, and we prove a corresponding Maximum Principle.
