Abstract:In this work, we report on low-temperature x-ray diffraction, electronspin-resonance and magnetic-susceptibility measurements performed on η-Na 1.286 V 2 O 5 . We show that the low-temperature structure of this compound differs from that at room temperature mainly by the doubling of the unit cell in the b direction. The magnetic measurements give evidence for the opening of a spin gap which we discuss in conjunction with the low-temperature structure of this compound.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
