The world awaits large-scale innovations in producing and using energy to maintain human sustainability. While well exceeding the corporate IT scale, this challenge is highly significant to the IT Industry, which increasingly depends on a massively growing energy appetite. IT innovations at the edge may eventually fuel innovation at scale.
MOTHER NATURE IS NOT ALWAYS FORGIVINGMother Nature operates at scale. It is up to humans to become equally resourceful in countering natural scaling events that threaten human survival. Increased thermal activity on a global level represents such a primary threat driven by scale. As is frequently the case, building to scale starts with understanding and accepting the established realities. The archeological record attests to the global ecosystem changes resulting from long-term fluctuating shifts in climate. Significantly, the threatening effects of more rapidly than everwarming atmospheric conditions, regardless of causal factors, have become ingrained and primarily accepted in mainstream science. 1 This cultural problem must be resolved at scale among interoperable solutions that favor human survival.
