On the Higgs cross section at N3LO+N3LL and its uncertainty

Abstract: Abstract:We consider the inclusive production of a Higgs boson in gluon-fusion and we study the impact of threshold resummation at next-to-next-to-next-to-leading logarithmic accuracy (N 3 LL) on the recently computed fixed-order prediction at next-to-next-to-nextto-leading order (N 3 LO). We propose a conservative, yet robust way of estimating the perturbative uncertainty from missing higher (fixed-or logarithmic-) orders. We compare our results with two other different methods of estimating the uncertainty f… Show more

“…Electroweak corrections [58][59][60] can be included as well, either in terms of the full SM electroweak correction factor, or restricted to the corrections mediated by light quarks, the latter being a more conservative estimate in certain BSM scenarios. For completeness, we note that effects beyond fixed order have been addressed through soft-gluon resummation [18,[61][62][63][64][65][66][67], but those are not included in SusHi.…”

“…This motivated various studies to go beyond NNLO [28][29][30][31][32][33][34], culminating in the computation of this production process to N 3 LO [5][6][7][8] in the large top-mass limit. 5 It has been demonstrated in various ways that such large corrections mostly originate from soft-virtual contributions [28,30,33,34,38], dominant at large x, and can be resummed to all orders by means of threshold resummation techniques [29,[39][40][41], reaching N 3 LL accuracy [42][43][44][45][46]. 6 N 3 LO+N 3 LL predictions are very close to N 3 LO ones, thus suggesting that perturbative expansion is apparently converging, and giving some confidence that current theoretical predictions, such as the one recommended by the LHC Higgs Cross Section Working Group (HXSWG) [51], are sufficiently accurate for precision phenomenology.…”
