On the Growth and Survival of Ulva fasciata in the Polluted Waters of Visakhapatnam Harbour

Abstract: Experiments were conducted to assess the effects of polluted seawater of the Visakhapatnam Harbour o n the growth and survival of Ulva fasciata Delile. Rapid degeneration of ülva discs with marked reduction in growth was observed in the waters collected near Southern lighter canal which are polluted by untreated town sewage. In the waters of Northern and Western arrns of the Harbour, growth rate was slightly more than that observed in unpolluted seawater used äs control, but 22 to 30 per cent of Ulva discs die… Show more
