In this study, distribution of Steninae (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae) subfamily in Turkey was comprehensively evaluated and compared with the fauna of Turkey's neighboring countries and the Palaearctic Region. The current literature indicates that there are 130 Steninae species in Turkey, and approximately 17.5% (23 species) of these species are endemic to Turkey. This study presents the results of an analysis of the similarity between Turkey and its neighboring countries and the Palaearctic region. The Black Sea region has the most species (87 species) and the highest number of endemic species (15 species) in Turkey. An analysis of the similarity between Turkey's regions revealed that the Central Anatolia Region and the Eastern Anatolia Region are the most similar to each other, with a similarity rate of 75%. In terms of similarity with other countries, the Steninae fauna of Turkey is most similar to that of Greece and Bulgaria, with a similarity rate of 43%. Compared to other sub-regions of the Palaearctic, the Steninae fauna of Turkey is more similar to the Middle Eastern fauna, with a similarity rate of 29%.

2021 yılının 15 Nisan-15 Kasım tarihleri arasında Erzurum İli’nin Aşkale, Çat, Horasan, Ilıca, Köprüköy, Merkez, Oltu, Pasinler, Tortum ve Uzundere ilçelerinin değişik habitatlarında yürütülen arazi çalışmalarında toplanan örnekler çalışmanın materyalini oluşturmuştur. Ayrıca, daha önceki yıllarda Erzurum ilinden toplanıp, EMET (Entomoloji Müzesi, Erzurum, Türkiye)’de muhafaza edilen iki türe ait örneklerde çalışmaya dahil edilmiştir. Laboratuvara getirilen örnekler iğnelenerek veya uygun büyüklükteki yapıştırma kağıtlarına yapıştırılarak teşhise uygun hale getirilmiştir. Örnekler daha sonra muhafaza dolapları içerisindeki çekmecelere konularak muhafaza altına alınmıştır. Çalışma sonucunda, 5 altfamilya’ya ait 16 cins ve 27 tür ve alttür tespit edilmiştir. Bu türler; Falagrioma thoracica (Stephens), Drusilla (Drusilla) canaliculata (F.), Oxyporus (Oxyporus) rufus (L.), Paederidus (s.str.) rubrothoracicus (Goeze), Leptobium gracile (Gravenhorst), Lobrathium (Lobrathium) rugipenne (Hochhuth), Paederus (Heteropaederus) fuscipes Curtis, Paederus (Poederomorphus) littoralis Gravenhorst, Philonthus (Philonthus) carbonarius (Gravenhorst), Philonthus (Philonthus) cruentatus (Gmelin), Philonthus (Philonthus) discoideus (Gravenhorst), Philonthus (Philonthus) laminatus (Creutzer), Philonthus (Philonthus) nitidicollis (Lacordaire), Quedius (Raphirus) boluensis Korge, Quedius (Raphirus) umbrinus Erichson, Emus hirtus (L.), Ocypus (Pseudocypus) fulvipennis Erichson, Ocypus (Pseudocypus) picipennis picipennis (F.), Ocypus (Pseudocypus) picipennis caucasicus (Müller), Ocypus (Pseudocypus) sericeicollis (Menetries), Staphylinus caesareus Cederhjelm, Tasgius (Rayacheila) falcifer (Nordmann), Tasgius (Rayacheila) minax (Mulsant & Rey), Tasgius gracilicornis (Hochhuth), Gauropterus sanguinipennis (Kolenati), Xantholinus (Helicophallus) ceviki (Anlaş) ve Tachyporus hypnorum (F.)’dur. Yapılan bu çalışma ile Staphylinidae türlerinin yayılışlarına yeni lokaliteler eklenmiştir. Çalışma sonucunda beş tür Doğu Anadolu Bölgesi için, 10 tür de Erzurum ili için yeni kayıt niteliğindedir. İleride bu konuda çalışacak araştırıcılar için yararlı olacak bilgiler ortaya konulmuştur.

The genus Xantholinus Dejean, 1821 (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae, Staphylininae, Xantholinini) contains 105 species in the western Palearctic region. In the present study, new and additional distribution data for 22 species of the genus Xantholinus are reported from various countries of the western Palearctic Region. The material examined was collected between 1898 and 2017; and contained types and additional specimens mostly in European museums. Among them, five species are the first country records: Azerbaijan (1), Armenia (1), Bosnia Herzegovina (1), Iraq (2), Jordan (1) and Macedonia (2). The original specimens of Xantholinus araxis Reitter, 1898 have been studied, the lectotype designated, the species redescribed and illustrated. Besides, the type specimens of
