On the enhanced E1 transitions in the K = 3/2 parity doublet band in 223Ra

Abstract: Abstract. We have applied the fast timing βγγ(t) (55) ps, respectively. Our |D 0| value of 0.155(10) e·fm obtained for the K = 3/2 configuration together with the available values of |D 0| for the K = 1/2 and K = 5/2 parity doublet bands establish the configuration dependence of |D 0| at low spins in this nucleus. Results of theoretical calculations performed for 223 Ra, using the quasiparticle-phonon model (QPM) with inclusion of the Coriolis coupling, reasonably well reproduce octupole correlations in this n… Show more

“…At ISOLDE several experiments aimed at odd-Ra isotopes were performed in nuclei around the central point of octupole deformation in the region ( 225 Ra) where the isotopes of interest were populated in the spallation reactions induced by the PS-Booster 1 GeV proton beam on UC x targets. These include 223 Ra[84], where electric dipole moments are below what it is expected for the centre of the octupole deformation, and the heavier 227 Ra[85], 229 Ra[86] and 231 Ra[87]. For 223 Ra the half-lives reveal D 0 | | values for the low-spin K band for higher spin states.…”
