On the design issues of dual-bus high-speed metropolitan area networks

Abstract

There arc seiierd important issues should be considered in designing a n e,ficient MAC protocol for dualbus high-speed metropolitan area network, m c h as priority, bandwidth balancing time, fairness, message delay, and bandwidth uiastage. In this paper, two eficient schemes are proposed for the dual-bus high-speed networks which consider these design, issues. The first scheme 2.3 for the fairness of bandwidth allocation and the second scheme is f o r the fairness of access delay. Simulation results show that the proposed schemes are m,ore eficient than other well-known schemes in every aspect. Most important, both schemes are quite simple and hence are very suitable to be impkmented in a high-speed environment.
