According to the Weierstrass Approximation Theorem, any continuous function on the closed and bounded interval can be approximated by polynomials. A constructive proof of this theorem uses the so-called Bernstein polynomials. For the approximation of integrable functions, we may consider Kantorovich operators as certain modifications for Bernstein polynomials. In this paper, we investigate the behaviour of Kantorovich operators in Lebesgue spaces. We first give an alternative proof of the uniform boundedness of Kantorovich operators in Lebesgue spaces by using the Riesz-Thorin Interpolation Theorem. In addition, we examine the convergence of Kantorovich operators in the space of essentially bounded functions. We also give an example related to the rate of convergence of Kantorovich operators in a subspace of Lebesgue spaces.

Boundaries in the ocean are man-made constructs of importance to everything from oil and gas production, to fisheries and environmental protection. How do states delineate such ownership and rights? These are the core questions examined in this article, which studies Australia’s maritime boundary agreements, starting with Indonesia in 1971 and ending with Timor-Leste in 2019. In addition to depicting and documenting the main drivers and impediments to these agreements whenever Australia has had to negotiate with a third country, it examines Australia’s approach to boundary-making at sea more generally. Drawing on international law and political science, this article shows why we need understand the interplay between security politics, legal considerations and domestic interests in order to understand what motivates states to settle their maritime disputes.

Alam Indah Beach is located in a strategic urban coastal area so it has a very high potential to be used as a tourist attraction. This study aims to determine descriptively the analysis of the socio-economic characteristics of visitors and to know quantitatively the economic value of the Alam Indah Beach Tourism Object and the relationship between several variables that affect the number of visits from the object. This research is a quantitative study with primary and secondary data collection through library research and field studies using interviews, observation, and questionnaires. The results of the study reveal that the total cost variable has the most significant influence on the number of tourist visits, reaching 80.27% and resulting in a total consumer surplus of IDR. 130.355.024, willingness to pay of IDR. 136,497, and an economic valuation of IDR. 35,508,314,810. Major economic benefits from tourism activities in Alam Indah beach brings socio economic improvement of the local community. The result of economic value of beach tourism object could be a reference for managers and local governments to balance between beach as a preservation with additional income for local governments and societies.
