On the Asymptotic Confidence Intervals of Multiple-Stream Yield Index

Abstract: The process capability index is a simple quantitative way to assess the capability of a process. To measure the overall yield of a multiple-stream process, Wang et al. (2009) proposed a yield index, denoted by S M pk , and then provided a point estimator of S M pk for practical industrial applications. In addition to point estimation, interval estimation plays an important role in statistical inference on the process index. In the present paper, we consider the problem of constructing the confidence interval f… Show more

“…Engineers are often interested in constructing the confidence interval of the process yield index. Wang et al presented the sampling distribution of Strue^pkM based on the probability distribution of Ptrue^M. Through the Central Limit Theorem, if the sample size for each stream is sufficiently large, we can obtain Ptrue^Mn30N(),μPσP2, where μP=1vtruetrue∑l=1vPtrue^l and σP2=1nvtruetrue∑l=1vPtrue^ltrue(1Ptrue^ltrue).…”

“…In Section 3, we propose a general procedure to obtain the process yield for MSPs. In Section 4, a simulation study is conducted to compare the performance of the proposed method with the existing method . In Section 5, two real examples are used to demonstrate the application of the proposed approach.…”
