After an introduction recalling the theoretical motivation for low energy (100 GeV to TeV scale) supersymmetry, this review describes the theory and experimental implications of the soft supersymmetry-breaking Lagrangian of the general minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM). Extensions to include neutrino masses and nonminimal theories are also discussed. Topics covered include models of supersymmetry breaking, phenomenological constraints from electroweak symmetry breaking, flavor/CP violation, collider searches, and cosmological constraints including dark matter and implications for baryogenesis and inflation.

We analyze new sources of flavor violation in models with extra dimensions. We focus on three major classes of five dimensional models: models with universal extra dimension, models with split fermions, and models with warped extra dimension. We study the implications of these new sources on the associate CP violating asymmetries to the rare B-decays. We show that among these models only the split fermions scenario may accommodate the recent experimental deviation between the CP asymmetry of B d → φK S and sin 2β.

We analyze the CP asymmetries of B → φK and B → η (′) K modes in the QCD improved factorization framework. For our calculation we use the phenomenological parameters predetermined from the global fit for the available B → P P and V P modes (without the quark-level subprocess b → sss). We show that the large negative sin(2φ 1 ) φKs and the large branching ratio for B ± → η ′ K ± can be simultaneously explained in the context of supersymmetry (SUSY). The Rparity conserving SUGRA models are used and their parameter space is constrained with the observed dark matter relic density along with other experimental constraints. The R-parity violating SUSY models are also used to show that they can provide solutions. We calculate the CP asymmetries for different B ±(0) → φK ±(0) and B ±(0) → η ( ′ ) K ±(0) modes and show that the SUSY model predictions are consistent with the available experimental data. * duttabh@uregina.ca †
