On some parametric and phase space singularities in PMSM submitted to FOC drive

Abstract: This paper describes the occurrence of certain dynamic responses of the permanent magnet synchronous motor submitted to a FOC control under a parameter variation. In addition to the transition between limit cycles and equilibrium points due to the Hopf bifurcation, the multistability property is put into evidence by the identification of several attractors for the same motor and control parameter sets and for different sets of initial conditions. An illustration of the domains or basins of attractions of diffe… Show more

“…Thesefeatures contribute to the improvement of the efficiency of PMSMs as compared to induction motors (IM). Field oriented control (FOC) or vector control theory has become now a widely accepted solution for the control of AC motors drives [3][4][5]. Matrix converter-fed PMSM drives combine the advantages and attractive features of both the motor and converters technologies, and are emerging as a competing candidate drive technology for applications that require power-dense and volumetrically efficient electromechanical energy conversion with minimal distortion of supply-side power quality.…”

“…The synchronization of chaos was dealt with using a PI controller. Wahid et al 8 described certain dynamic responses of the PMSM under FOC with variation of a parameter. Equilibrium point coordinates were solved from the differential system equations and their stability can be showed from characteristic polynomial solutions.…”

“…Wang et al [7] analyzed the dynamic response of PMSM under FOC control and obtained different attractors with the change of single parameter. In reference [8], the parameter region is divided into the chaotic area and nonchaotic area by a lot of simulation results, and the maximum torque output of the stable region is estimated based on the nonchaotic area.…”
