On-line estimation of thevenin equivalent with varying system states

Abstract: For power system, Thevenin equivalent at a node can represent the aggregation of system's operation conditions, e.g. generator terminal voltages, load powers, and line impedances, seen from a bus. Estimation of Thevenin equivalent can be challenging given that active controls in power systems vary the system's states with time. Traditional Thevenin equivalent method using open-circuit and short-circuit tests at the terminal can not be used for online estimation. A novel Thevenin equivalent calculation based on… Show more

“…With considering the reduced model using Thevenin equivalent, the whole complicated system can be simplified to a single-machine-infinite-bus system, and significantly reduces the difficulties of stability analysis. A method has been proposed to estimate Thevenin equivalent with varying system states [6].…”

“…In [14], three consecutive phasor measurements of generator voltage and current is used to correct the phase drift and TE estimation. In [15][16], recursive least square estimation technique is used to estimate the online for tracking the voltage stability from a load terminal. In [17] authors proposes a new method based on the rate of the change of frequency obtained from PMU measurement in order to correct the phase drift and calculate the TE.…”
