Abstract:In more than three decades, spacecraft have crossed the terrestrial bow shock tens of thousand times providing enough data to construct many bow shock models. However, several studies have demonstrated severe limitations in the predictive capabilities of the most used bow shock models due to inadequate parameterization and/or limited amount of data employed. The accuracy of bow shock models is also hindered by the fact that bow shock models predict an equilibrium position for given conditions while spacecraft … Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
