“…Several work in literature have investigated energy efficient communication in wireless body area networks via signal processing [1], [2], modulation [3], [4], medium access control (MAC) [5], [6], transmission control protocol (TCP) [7], routing [8] - [10], and cooperative relaying [11] - [14].…”

“…In addition, the work in [9] considers the node temperature, energy level, and received signal power from adjacent nodes as a cost function while determining the optimal route that minimizes the temperature rise and power consumption of the network. Moreover, the work in [10] adopts node clustering for energy saving since communication among clusters enables shorter transmission ranges.…”

“…Hadda et al 37 introduced five routing strategies: thermal-aware routing protocols, cluster-based routing protocols, cross layer-based routing protocols, QoS-used earlier-aware routing protocols, and delay-tolerant-aware routing protocols. Multi-hop routing algorithms like Low-energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy (LEACH), 38 Power-efficient Gathering in Sensor Information Systems (PEGASIS), 39 and Hybrid Indirect Transmissions (HIT) 40 are required for single cluster-based WBAN, where LEACH is responsible for transferring the data from sensor nodes to cluster heads or BANC with a minimum energy transmission scheme, PEGASIS is near-optimal chain-based care of data processing in terms of data fusion, which helps to reduce the amount of data transmitted between sensor nodes and the BANC, and HIT provides alternate routes to the BANC with the prevention of skin heating. This article also highlighted the advantages of the routing technique in WBAN.…”

“…However, one of the key constraints envisaged is the energy efficiency issues ignored in the model. The constraints envisaged in the process is addressed in HIT (Hybrid Indirect Transmissions) [28], resulting in improved energy efficiency which is not considered in the process. In [28] authors focused on the model of data generating protocol that targets in reducing number of direct transmissions towards a sensor node base station and by focusing on multi-hop indirect transmissions towards a cluster and for multiple clusters that are adjacent.…”
