Today, model checking techniques and corresponding tools are widely applied in diverse case driven scenarios, the safety critical ones in particular. Addressing current situation in Ukraine, an energy domain is among the topical spheres, where safety critical business processes take place. To foster the functional safety of corresponding program-algorithmic solutions, the model checking techniques and related tools are applied to the formal specifications of named solutions. Doing so is not a trivial task: it depends on a particular use case scenario determining the architecture (structure and couplings) of the resulting design artifact. Moreover, the outcomes of formal techniques and tools application directly depend on specification atomicity level chosen -as a tradeoff between the complexity of programalgorithmic constituent addressed to be represented in formal specification and available computational and spatial resources of the computing platform with model checking technique implementation -because of an exponential growth of transition system state space. To this end, to foster the effectiveness of model checking technique application, with respect to a particular case driven scenario, the analysis of broadly applied TLC model checker has been conducted on the basis of a role model from energy domain. Experimentation has been conducted by addressing two alternative implementations of the TLC method. Both -computational and spatial properties -have been covered. To estimate also the domain related spatial expenses on verification, with respect to the number of software threads utilized, the approximation task has been resolved.

Common overcurrent criteria used to detect phase-to-phase short circuits in medium-voltage (MV) networks in some cases do not bring the expected results. In particular, this applies to instantaneous overcurrent protections in lines with variable ranges and lines leading to local power plants (LPP), which generate a short-circuit current slightly greater than the rated current. When using overcurrent protections, there are some problems with ensuring the appropriate sensitivity and selectivity. This article proposes a protection based on impedance measurement against the effects of phase-to-phase short circuits in MV lines. The protection can be used at switchgears and also at protection points (PP) located deep in the network. The under-impedance criterion has a range independent of the value of the short-circuit current, and it can be alternative or complement to classic overcurrent protection. The introduction of these criteria allows the protection range to be independent of the type of short circuit and the short-circuit power on the busbar, and to determine this range more precisely. The under-impedance protection is particularly useful in conditions of a growing number of energy sources deep inside the networks and its automation. The main idea was to develop a uncomplicated characteristic that would ensure the possibility of setting the under-impedance protection by people who are not specialists in the field of distance protections. The characteristics have been optimally developed both in terms of the area of detected impedances and easy implementation, operation, and configuration.

In the face of rampant global disease transmission, effective preventive strategies are imperative. This study tackles the challenge of ensuring compliance in crowded settings by developing a sophisticated face mask detection system. Utilizing MATLAB and the Cascade Object detector, the system focuses on detecting white surgical masks in frontal images. Training the system is critical for accuracy; therefore, cross-validation is employed due to limited data. The results reveal accuracies of 76.67% for initial training, 67.50% for a 9:11 cropping ratio, and 89.17% for a 9:4:7 cropping ratio, highlighting the system's remarkable precision in mask detection. Looking ahead, the system's adaptability can be further expanded to include various mask colors and types, extending its effectiveness beyond COVID-19 to combat a range of respiratory illnesses. This research represents a significant advancement in reinforcing preventive measures against future disease outbreaks, especially in densely populated environments, contributing significantly to global public health and safety initiatives.
